The Parents Place is partnering with Kris Dickinson, OTR/L, pediatric occupational therapist, to enhance this amazing Love and Logic curriculum with more practical strategies for promoting self-regulation in the classroom. Learn the Love and Logic culture, language, concepts and behavior management strategies plus techniques for working with your most difficult students.
Limited to 15 participants.

Money is a powerful motivator and teaching tool. This class gives parents a simple, long-term strategy for helping their kids gain skills in earning, saving, giving and spending money. This class covers allowances, chores and jobs, interacting with financial institutions, teaching the value of money, dealing with entitlement, and addressing problems that often arise around kids and their money. Practical strategies are married with strong parenting concepts to make this class a great one full of good ideas around an important life skill topic. Limited to 15 participants.

Parenting the Love and Logic Way™ is a parenting curriculum that empowers parents to enjoy their children more while simultaneously taming some of the most difficult behaviors parents need to manage: whining, complaining, arguing, back talking, not listening, tantrums, negotiating and debating, sibling conflict, feelings of entitlement, poor choices, and a lack of problem solving. It also teaches concepts in parenting that last a lifetime and help parents (and kids!) capture the most impactful learning opportunities at every age, shaping kids into great decision makers and problem solvers who value relationships. Love and Logic® has been around for decades and continues to provide parents with powerful and proven techniques. Class limited to 18 participants.

This curriculum and its techniques can help parents enjoy the most of their children and shape great skills like making good choices, learning to calm down, accepting limits, and creatively problem solving, all while taming some of the most difficult behaviors parents need to manage: whining, complaining, arguing, back talking, not listening, tantrums, negotiating and debating, sibling conflict, and entitlement. Early childhood is a great time to learn the Love and Logic® Way and capture many years of great opportunities in parenting!

At the wee age of 2 the average American child is spending almost 2 hours a day interacting with technology! Research shows that technology can alter a child’s brain development – in good ways and in bad. And the reality is, technology poses increasing challenges in parenting every day: setting limits, ensuring safety, scrutinizing posts, cyber-bullying, entitlement for devices, increasing technology expenses, power struggles over technology privileges, peer pressure, and more. This class explores the pros and cons of parenting kids in the technology age and proposes simple solutions for some of the most predictable – and unpredictable – problems, plus a resource guide for keeping kids safe on line. Class limited to 15 participants.

Understanding the teenage brain, emotional patterns, and their emerging adult skill set is key to success in the teen years. Parents of teens still need to set limits, share the family value system, and stay engaged while simultaneously offering more opportunities for their teens to find their own way in the world. Learn powerful communication techniques with teens and how to navigate the inevitable power struggles and defiance that teens can offer up. This course offers parents a change to develop or refine a point of view that will promote problem solving, shared control, and an evolving solid sense of responsibility. Class limited to 18 participants.
